Get To Know Us
The Kidney Champion foundation was started by Crystal King, a mom and kidney transplant survivor who is most known for sharing moments from her journey with kidney disease. By shedding light on the challenges that result from living with an invisible illness, providing education for kidney disease, and encouraging people to become organ donors, Crystal became an Influencer in the kidney community.

After years of creating a safe space so that those living with kidney disease could have more support, compassion, and opportunities to receive transplants, Crystal developed the Kidney Champion Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
What sets us apart is our innovative approach to educating patients and the public at large about kidney disease. We give patients a platform to share the realities of living with kidney disease. We teach patients how to identify heroes to advocate on their behalf. And, we provide education around statistics, tools, and resources so that more people will become informed about how to access vital healthcare required to thrive with kidney disease.
The Kidney Champions Foundation leverages the online spaces where people are already having conversations to shed light on stories from underserved communities, and underrepresented healthcare professionals. We bring attention to the disparities in healthcare for people of color. These stories empower kidney patients to take control of the narrative so that it’s more authentic and accurate. Our intention is to challenge assumptions around what limits equitable access to lifesaving services and healthcare. Waiting for a donor or to donate is active: it’s using your voice; it's asking questions; it’s support. The Kidney Champion Foundation is a place for us to influence the change we seek.
